Good news! New research indicates the support for abortion is decreasing.
A new Pew Research Center poll released Thursday shows that support for legal abortions has dropped 11 percent since last year. In 2007 and 2008 the Pew center found 54% of American taking a pro-abortion position, and only 40% taking a pro-life position. The most recent study showed those numbers changing to 47% in support of legal abortion and 44% opposed.
This can be added to similarly encouraging findings by another poll earlier this year. In August, a Gallup poll found 47% of Americans identified themselves as pro-life, whereas only 46% supported abortion.
Although the numbers are not ideal, they demonstrate that there is definitely a cultural shift taking place towards support for life. That is encouraging news.
