26 Oct What does the World Owe You? The Human Rights Question
From the Desk of Tori Black:
Some of you may not be familiar with the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC). This international council meets three times a year in Geneva, Switzerland, to discuss and craft policy on a wide array of issues.
In September, a United Families International team was in attendance to monitor the HRC discussions, impact the resolutions negotiated, and ensure appropriate recommendations are put forth on the topics of “life,” family” and “religious freedom.” The UFI team learned a lot! We have a much clearer picture of how to best impact the Human Rights Council going forward.
One of our UFI team members shares her thoughts about the “human rights” process, below. It’s an interesting and sobering read. One thing becomes clear, the Human Rights Council and the politics that swirl around it are not something we can ignore. We hope you can support us in our efforts to impact the Human Rights Council and educate yourself on the challenges and the dangers of implementing “human rights.”
