Protect against Title IX and submit a comment by September 12, 2022.

The US Department of Education released their proposed changes to Title IX regulations that would dramatically change the future for women and girls in federally funded activities and programs. There are many negative impacts that will harm girls, women, and families.

A government portal has been set up for you to make a comment submission.  It is very straight-forward and easy to do.  In addition, this governmental body is required to read every submission, large and small – before they can finalize the new “Rule.”  So rest assured, your input will be read and considered.

We at United Families are always amazed at the number of people who see no negative consequences from the continued dismantling of marriage be it through legitimizing cohabiting heterosexual relationships, a cavalier attitude towards divorce,  or legalizing same-sex marriage.  These individuals assume that since marriage is already struggling, reducing it even further will have no impact on society.

The Heritage Foundation has just released a new report entitled: “Marriage:  America’s No. 1 Weapon against Childhood Poverty.”  Heritage clearly outlines the impact of what occurs when stable heterosexual marriages fail to form and when the perception becomes “marriage and the bearing of children are irrelevant to one another.”  We might add that with the legalization of same-sex marriage, a society unequivocally states that they believe that marriage and the bearing of children are not connected.

We will once again share an oft repeated statement that should sink into the heart of every person who cares about children and every person who desires limited government:  Governments can never create enough social programs to compensate for stable marriages that fail to form. If you are an individual who touts limited government, you should be leading the charge to shore up heterosexual marriage; otherwise a “nanny state” will prevail until it collapses under its own weight.

Take a look at The Heritage Foundation’s new report and share it broadly:

“New data released today by the U.S. Census Bureau show the largest increase in poverty in U.S. recorded history.  An additional 3.7 million Americans fell into poverty in 2009. Buried in these numbers are the children born to single mothers, who are five times more likely to live in poverty than children born to married parents. Today, over 40 percent of children are born outside wedlock, and the numbers are particularly devastating for Hispanics (51.3 percent) and African Americans (71.6 percent).”

A new report and chart book by Robert Rector of The Heritage Foundation illustrates how this steady rise in out-of-wedlock childbearing is one of the major causes of child poverty in the U.S. today. The report also links this collapse in marriage to a rise in welfare spending.
