Two weeks ago, I wrote my first blog on Civics 101. It consisted of the first 25 questions (out of 100), for the “Civics flash cards for the naturalization test.” In today’s blog, you will be quizzed on questions 26-50. People who would like to become legal citizens of the United States of America are asked ten out of 100 questions. They must correctly answer six to become United States Citizens. Allowances are made for the elderly and handicapped.

12. What does the Judicial Branch do? Reviews laws, explains laws, resolves disputes, decides if a law goes against the Constitution.
13. What is the highest court in the Unites States? The Supreme Court
14. How many justices are on the Supreme Court? Nine (eight associate justices and one chief justice.)
15. Who is the Chief Justice of the Unites States now? John Roberts Jr.
16. Under our Constitution, some powers belong to the federal government. What is one power of the federal government?
Print money, declare war, create an army, make treaties.
17. Under our Constitution, some powers belong to the states. What is one power of the states?
Provide schooling and education, provide protection (police,) provide safety (fire department,) give a driver’s license, approve zoning and land use.
18. Who is the governor of your state now? Answers will vary. If you don’t know find out!
19. What is the capital of your state? Answers will vary. If you don’t know find out.
20. What are the two major political parties in the Unites States?
Republican and Democrat
21. What is the political party of the president now? Democrat

23. There are four amendments to the Constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them.
1. Citizens 18 years of age and older can vote.
2. You don’t have to pay (a poll tax) to vote.
3. Any citizen can vote. (male or female)
4. A male citizen of any race can vote.
24. What is one responsibility that is only for Unites States citizens?
Serve on a jury, vote in a federal election.
25. Name one right only for Unites States citizens.
Vote in a federal election, run for federal office.
