Protect against Title IX and submit a comment by September 12, 2022.

The US Department of Education released their proposed changes to Title IX regulations that would dramatically change the future for women and girls in federally funded activities and programs. There are many negative impacts that will harm girls, women, and families.

A government portal has been set up for you to make a comment submission.  It is very straight-forward and easy to do.  In addition, this governmental body is required to read every submission, large and small – before they can finalize the new “Rule.”  So rest assured, your input will be read and considered.

Without a doubt the person I admire most is my mother. Since the very beginning she has constantly been my nurturer, my cheerleader, my support and my friend. She taught me everything I know. She gave me life. Everything that I am is because of her.

My Mom and I have always been close. Now that I am an adult our relationship has changed, but I think in some ways we have grown even closer. Although Mom and I live across the country, we work hard to keep our relationship strong.

The Rice Psychology Group gives four tips to help build stronger relationships between mothers and their adult children:

1. Have Realistic Expectations

Create realistic expectations around what you need and expect from each other”

Children aren’t perfect and neither are mothers. Be forgiving and kind to one another.

2. Learn to Communicate

Mothers and daughters should learn the best ways to communicate with each other.”

When needed, lend a listening ear or ask for advice. Visit each other and spend time together. Find means of communication that works best for both of you and your circumstance but make sure to keep the relationship going.

3. Create Special Moments

Spending time [together] is precious and can be an unmatched experience”

You don’t have to do anything extravagant to make memories together that can last a lifetime. Spend quality time together doing something you both love.

4. Close the Gap

There are times when generation gaps can cause havoc on relationships between a parent and a child. Keeping an open mind and fostering a non-judgmental atmosphere on both sides will go a long way in building a healthy relationship”

This Mother’s Day, as with every day, let us try a little harder to have a better relationship with the women who matter most in our lives.

On behalf mothers and future mothers everywhere I want to thank you. Your selfless sacrifices do not go unnoticed.

Happy Mother’s Day.
